Supporting #WHIS for the third year in a row
21 Jun 2018
Our Founder and Chief Executive, Katherine Dalgliesh, was again invited to speak at the World Health Innovation Summit in Carlisle, to share her vision for Happy Mums.
As a social enterprise we support the local economy as well as providing services directly to women experiencing maternal mental health problems. This innovative approach to community healthcare is what the summit is all about - finding new and radical ways of doing things to bring ownership back to the community.
Our first Budding Parents session is a hit with local parents-to-be
15 Jun 2018
'Budding Parents' is our new FREE service for local mums and dads-to-be. Its just a couple of hours to meet other expectant parents, create some simple crafts for baby and generally talk all things pregnancy over a cup of tea! This was our first session, and it was fantastic to be able to introduce the work of Happy Mums and raise awareness of maternal mental health problems while making connections with others.
Reducing isolation is a big factor in preventing the escalation of maternal mental health problems and we hope that Budding Parents will continue to grow and provide a crucial service for our community.
We were proud to receive a glowing review for one of the dads who came to the session. He said: "We both feel like a weight has been lifted knowing people out there care and support us. Thanks guys."
Happy Mums is New Social Enterprise of the Year 2018!
08 Mar 2018
On Thursday 8th March Katherine and Amy attended the Cumbria Social Enterprise Partnership's Conference and Awards event at Rosehill Theatre, Whitehaven. Happy Mums were short-listed in the category of New Social Enterprise of the Year, up against some tough competition from our friends at iCan Health and Fitness CIC who went onto receive a 'Highly Commended'.
We were ecstatic to win the award, and are so grateful for the recognition of the hard work that the whole team have put in over the last three years.
