"It was after my own experiences of maternal mental health problems that I decided to do something to support other mums.
In 2011, shortly after the birth of my eldest daughter I was admitted into the Mother and Baby Unit in Manchester, diagnosed with postnatal depression and anxiety. For me, it was being able to talk about how I felt with other women in the hospital that was the first step to believing that I would be able to recover. It gave me hope.
Towards the end of 2014 I set about establishing Happy Mums with the support of my lovely friend Gemma, while also training to be an antenatal teacher.
I went on to have two more children, and I can honestly say that, although the hardest period of my life so far, I am grateful to have been through it as it has led me to what I am doing today.
Over the last few years, through Happy Mums, I have met some incredible, inspirational women and I am proud to continue to raise awareness and embrace maternal mental health."
